A while back I read that not everyone has an internal monologue. You know, that chatty voice in your head.
*record scratch*
Wait. Not everyone has voices constantly chattering at them from inside their heads?!
Turns out, according to research, only 30 to 50% of people have inner monologues, which means up to 70% of people don't have a talkative brain. “Some people have a chatty internal monologue that narrates their life, while others have a quiet, serene inner landscape.” I deeply, deeply wish I was in the latter group, but guess what? ZING! Me being me, I have a very active asshole internal monologue. I call it a negative feedback loop.
Maybe you have a pleasant internal monologue, which, I’m jealous. I do not. Recently, though, I learned a technique to help quiet my inner monologue negative feedback loop.
